This by-election must have spoiled the peacefulness of the people here..hahahaa...the rest of the areas were quiet, but the moment u drove into the by-election area, it was in stark constrast with the rest...n sure was happening with politicians campaigning, banners and buntings all over the place....

UTM 36th Convocation
|

Been to so many UTM's convocations and this was not very much different from the rest. Waking up at 6am, then rushing for breakfast and send whoever is graduating in by 6.30am. But this time it was a little bit more special as we were able to witness the Queen giving out the scrolls. So lucky for them! My faculty never had undergrad n postgrad scrolls given out by the Queen.....

looking back when both of us 1st met, it has been an amazing journey together....from being classmates in UTM, to being employed to the same company (Motorola), and now teaching in the same Univ and School....*pheww* how time flies, and now u're older, but we're still best mates... HAPPY BRTHDAY DUDE!

Dr Gordon Manson - Our Visiting Prof (Univ of Sheffield)

Back to work, and have yet to recover from the holiday blues, I was already assigned with an important task....which to be the accompanying officer for Dr Manson, from the Univ of Sheffield. Dr Manson is a senior lecturer in the Dept of Computer Science, a father of two, very successful researcher, and, of course, fun-to-be-with. A lot of ideas were shared on how to research effectively and be successful in the field of academics....it was certainly an eye-opening experience rubbing shoulders with him for a week++. U r truly an inspiration!

CNY @ KK

Back to KK after almost a week in Tawau......wowww...watta relief to get back to the city and HOME!!! Spent several more days with our closest relative and favorite family which resides in Labuan, before calling it the end of my very unbelievably short hols. They are a small family of four (Uncle Noris, Aunt See Fun, Naughty Adrian n Cheeky Agnes). Despite the age difference, our family members connects better and have the chemistry. The reason is clear.....all of us are multi-lingual!!!

CNY @ TAWAU

After 7 very long, long years of missing/celebrating CNY elsewhere (JB, Penang, KL, Kedah, Perlis etc), I was finally home to celebrate with family members. Doesnt seem like there was any true meaning to it since it had been so plain for me in the past. But i do miss those days celebrating outstation, usually with my younger bro, Jim and my ever so loyal, crazy n fun-to-be-with, non-chinese friends. Thanks guys (Nora, TJ, Aru, Wan, Anis, Mona, Dini, Alfred, Openg, Zainol, Hafiizh, Liznah, Muzaffar, Riduan, Ridzuan, Fiza, Shukoq, Kak Nani, Kak Ita, Epit, Amat, Hilmi, etc) for making my CNY for the past 7 years so memorable and painless. Eating warung food/KFC on CNY eve and touring parts of malaysia during CNY holidays was certainly unforgettable!

It's UniMAP's inter-school sports and this time (and since I'm new), been picked as manager to manage the school's student team, and guess wat??? WE R THE CHAMPS '07! also a registered athelete for 2 acaras, but couldnt manage to attend due to poor time management (too busy managing the team)...so moral of the story is, dont try to be a playah+manager, all at the same time....there's no way ppl like me can do that....

New Year in Labuan

Altough not there to join them, still managed to grab their pics during their visit to Labuan on New Year's Day. The guys back home (Dad, Mom, Jim and Pei) sure have had a great time there with Aunt See Fun, Uncle Noris, couzzies Adrian n Agnes....(while I was forced to go celeb in Penang before suffering from extreme loneliness and severe depression  )...
